Frequently Asked Questions
What cultivars are used in Veritas Greens matcha?
Our premium matcha is a expertly curated blend of three traditional Japanese cultivars: Okumidori, Saemidori, and Yabukita.
- Okumidori: Chosen for its deep character, smooth finish, and elegant umami.
- Saemidori: Selected for its vibrant color, bright taste, and subtle sweet notes.
- Yabukita: Included to provide classic depth, rich body, and aromatic complexity.
By combining these specific cultivars, we create a balanced, high-performance blend that ensures consistency in color, texture, and flavor across our harvests.
What is the difference between ceremonial and culinary grade matcha?
Ceremonial grade matcha is made from the youngest, finest tea leaves, ground into a very smooth powder, ideal for whisking with water and drinking on its own. Culinary grade matcha is from slightly older leaves, has a more robust flavor, and is best suited for lattes, smoothies, baking, and other recipes.
How do I prepare matcha?
For a traditional cup, whisk 1 teaspoon of matcha with 60-100ml of hot water (around 80°C/175°F) until frothy. For lattes, blend with a little hot water, then top with steamed milk. You can also add it to smoothies, baked goods, or other recipes.
